Privacy Policy
1) Who we are
“MzansiFood”, “we”, “us”, or “our” refers to MzansiForSho (Pty) Ltd, a private company registered in the Republic of South Africa (Reg. No. 2024/595329/07). We operate the MzansiFood websites and mobile applications.
2) Scope
This policy explains how we collect, use, disclose and protect personal information when you use our consumer apps and websites (e.g. ordering meals, groceries and gifts), partner portals for restaurants/vendors, and courier/rider apps (collectively, the “Services”).
If you use MzansiDoctors, your medical or health information is governed by the MzansiDoctors privacy policy. We do not process medical records in the MzansiFood consumer app.
3) Data we collect
- Account details — name, email, phone, delivery addresses, password (hashed).
- Order details — items ordered, notes, store, time, price, delivery method.
- Location data — approximate or precise location when you grant permission in the app or browser (used for finding nearby restaurants, estimating delivery time, and delivery tracking).
- Device & usage — device type, OS, app version, IP, event logs, performance metrics.
- Payments — we use PCI-DSS–compliant payment processors. We do not store full card numbers. We receive payment confirmations, last 4 digits, and status from the gateway.
- Support — messages to our support team (chat, email, phone) and attached info.
- Marketing preferences — opt-ins/opt-outs, campaign interactions.
- Partner/courier info (for vendors/riders) — business details, FICA/verification docs where required by law, banking info for payouts, schedule/availability.
4) How we use your data
- Provide and operate the Services (create your account, process orders, customer support).
- Personalise results (e.g., nearby stores, cuisines) and show relevant offers.
- Process payments and prevent fraud or misuse.
- Enable delivery logistics (share order & address details with the vendor and courier).
- Communicate with you about orders, service updates, and marketing (if you consent).
- Perform analytics, product improvement, debugging and service quality monitoring.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.
6) Location & maps services
With your permission, we use your device’s location to suggest nearby stores, pre-fill addresses and estimate ETAs. You can disable location sharing in your device settings; the app will still work if you enter an address manually.
We use Google Maps Platform (e.g., Places Autocomplete, Distance Matrix) to improve address entry and routing. Your use of those features is also subject to the current Google privacy terms.
Couriers: the courier app may request foreground or background location to enable live tracking and proof-of-delivery. Settings can be adjusted on your device; however, disabling location may limit delivery features.
8) Vendors & couriers (additional notes)
If you sign up as a restaurant/vendor or as a courier/rider, we process additional business and verification data (e.g., business name, address, tax info, vehicle/driver details where applicable) to onboard you, manage payouts, and comply with legal requirements. We may capture operational metrics (acceptance rates, delivery metrics) for quality, safety and incentives. We keep financial records as required by law.
9) Lawful basis for processing (POPIA)
- Consent — e.g., precise location, marketing communications.
- Contract — to create your account, fulfil orders, provide support.
- Legal obligations — tax, financial record-keeping, law enforcement requests.
- Legitimate interests — fraud prevention, service improvement, network and information security.
10) Retention
We retain personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy: account and order data for the life of your account and for statutory record-keeping periods; payment records as required by financial regulations; support tickets for operational history; and logs for security and audits. When no longer needed, we securely delete or de-identify data.
11) Security
We use administrative, technical and physical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the data (access controls, encryption in transit, segregation of duties, monitoring). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we work continuously to improve our defences.
12) Your privacy rights (POPIA)
Under POPIA, you may have the right to:
- access the personal information we hold about you;
- request correction or deletion;
- object to or restrict certain processing;
- withdraw consent where processing relies on consent;
- submit a complaint to the Information Regulator (South Africa).

13) International transfers
Our service providers may process data outside South Africa. Where this occurs, we implement appropriate safeguards (contractual protections and security measures) to protect your information in accordance with POPIA.
14) Children
Our consumer Service is intended for individuals 18 years and older. If you believe a minor has provided us personal information without consent, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
15) Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version and revise the “Effective” date. Significant changes may be communicated via the app or email.
